DAVID E. RAPOPORT: There’s lots of information available on the internet for members of the public to use to find really excellent trial lawyers. One excellent strategy is to start out at www.nblsc.us, which has approximately 2,000 board-certified trial lawyers identified. If I was hiring a personal injury lawyer for a family member, these would be on my list of requirements.

DAVID E. RAPOPORT: Second, I would expect the person to be a member of the American Association for Justice as well as their state’s similar organization. Most importantly, I would expect the lawyer to have one of the following four qualifications: They are certified as a trial lawyer by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, they are a member of ABOTA, the American Board of Trial Advocates, they’re a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers or they’re a member of The International Academy of Trial Lawyers.
