This article discusses the various forms of compensatory damages available in situations involving personal injury or wrongful death in Illinois. The author provides an overview of Illinois personal injury damages, including compensation for past and future medical expenses, past and future loss of earnings, past and future pain and suffering, past and future disability/loss of a normal life, and disfigurement. In addition, the article discusses damages in wrongful death actions, limitations on damages, contributory negligence, and joint and several liability.
