A lawsuit has been filed in Cook County, Illinois, by a police officer who suffered permanent injuries after his family vehicle was crashed into by an 18-wheeler whose driver was traveling too fast in a construction zone. The lawsuit, filed by Rapoport Weisberg Sims & VanOverloop alleges that the truck driver was driving too fast for conditions as he followed the plaintiff’s vehicle dangerously close. The lawsuit further alleges that as traffic slowed, the tailgating truck driver was unable to slow down his speeding semi-truck, slamming into the plaintiff’s vehicle, starting a chain reaction that eventually involved eight vehicles. The lawsuit is asking for compensation for his medical bills, permanent injuries, and lost wages.
